Harp & Chrysanthemum

I took some time off this weekend and finally finished Maerduin's module Harp & Chrysanthemum, the NWN2 module of the Year. I gave it a 9.75 and wrapped it up in about 8 hours. I went in with a new elven ranger that I leveled up in the module.

I found it was a great achievement in story telling and engagement. From the opening an the walk up the hill, I was impressed with the level of detail and attention to mood. The cut scenes, characters and dialog were all well done. I liked that a number of options opened up quickly, even if on the whole it was a bit linear. My only complaint would be that in retrospect, there was a bit of "just show up and survive" going on, but the number of side quests and the big character development decision really kept me voraciously devouring it. I really liked that he used a number of areas for multiple encounters over time. It really helped me identify with the characters of Drawn Swords.

I know this is something that pretty much everyone else has played and commented on, but I still wanted to throw down some love. Thanks Maerduin, and I look forward to the next module!
